Mark began his career as a pianist in dance bands in the NY City area. He was house pianist for an extended period at Eddie Condon's jazz club. Mark worked with Benny Goodman as well as jazz greats: Doc Cheatham, Buck Clayton, Wild Bill, Ruby Braff, Vic Dickenson, Bob Wilber, Peanuts Hucko, and Jack Lesberg. He was featured at the 50th anniversary Benny Goodman concert in Carnegie Hall. Mark also played jazz piano on the soundtracks of "The Cotton Club," "Brighton Beach Memoirs," "Biloxi Blues" and "Working Girl." He has been featured on radio and TV jazz specials and has appeared at major jazz festivals worldwide.
