JOE ASCIONE's virtuosos technique has taken him to concert stages around the globe. Labeled by Jazz Magazine as "one of the best drummers around" he has performed with Cab Calloway, Jay McShann, Al Hirt, Ralph Sutton, Marian McPartland, Kenny Davern and many other musicians. Joe has been on more than 100 CDs. His latest, "Movin' Up" on Arbor is one he's most proud of. Born in 1961, he got his first drum at age 4. By 12, he was playing professionally in clubs and ultimately played Carnegie Hall several times. As a teenager, he became a roadie for Buddy Rich. He was also inspired by Gene Krupa and Joe Jones. Today Joe resides in NY with his wife Svetlana, a concert violinist, where the immediacy of the music scene is a desired necessity and a source of joy.
